Buying Chatsie Phone for a loved one: A Simple Guide

Welcome to the Chatsie family!

We know that purchasing a phone for someone else can be a big decision, especially when it involves new technology. If you need any assistance at any point, feel free to call us at (UK) 020 4524 0751 or email us at hello@chatsie.com.

What to consider when buying Chatsie for someone else?

A Chatsie phone is designed with simplicity in mind, perfect for someone who finds modern smartphones overwhelming. Further, specifically designed large font sizes, no icons, and the removal of unwanted notifications improve accessibility.

Given a Chatsie phone has access to all apps via google play, it is also useful for more digitally literate people who want easier navigation or to get more out of a smartphone than they currently can.
Do they need a handset (£399) or a subscription (£19 p/m)?

This depends on whether they want to split the payment over time, or use our phone plan at some point within the two years.

We have a relationship with Honest Mobile, and so have been able to provide the phone with unlimited minutes and 4GB of mobile data for a very competitive price at £19. We expect our users won’t use more data than that, but can add more if necessary.

We will also happily transfer their phone number to the Honest Mobile SIM card.
How to work out if you can change contracts?

If they don’t know much about their contract, they can text the word INFO to 85075, and this will tell you if you have an exit fee to leave your plan. They can also call their provider (more info)

You can then decide if you would think changing plans is a good idea.

If you do then want to move, you can either cancel the plan with your provider and we'll give them a new phone number. Or cancel and keep the same the phone number.

How to transfer their phone number to a Chatsie plan?

To shift the phone numbers, text PAC to 85075. You will then receive a PAC code (3 letters and 6 numbers, eg BEL123456). You can also do this by contacting your provider.

Once you have the Chatsie phone, tell us your PAC code, and we will transfer your number. It will take about 24 hours. Once this is complete the old plan has been cancelled (the old SIM will not work), and your phone number will be associated with the Chatsie phone!

Actually, they want to keep their current contract.

Don’t worry! We also offer a handset purchase without the SIM card. They can then put their SIM card in the Chatsie phone (we share instructions on how to do this in the box).
